Tate County, MS (February 23, 2024) – One individual lost their life, and another sustained injuries after a traffic accident in Tate County on Tuesday morning, February 20.
At around 7:00 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene located on Highway 4. Police say a Jeep Cherokee was headed east on the highway when it was involved in a collision with a Nissan Sentra headed north on Gravel Springs Road. The Sentra was trying to turn left onto the highway before the crash. A passenger present in the Nissan at the time of the accident, identified as Carl E. Mahan, 61, of Senatobia, was pronounced deceased on-site by medical professionals. The driver, a 30-year-old male, was transported to an area hospital with injuries deemed moderate. Police are still investigating the details of the accident.
