Terry, MS (January 25, 2022) – One person was injured in a car accident following a chase that took place on a Terry highway on Tuesday morning, January 25.
Terry Police confirmed that a police officer was trying to pull someone over on I-55 just south of Savannah Street. The driver fled the scene, which led to a chase. The driver of the vehicle sideswiped a pickup truck and crashed. The pickup truck went into the guardrail and sustained severe damages as a result of the collision.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the pickup truck, who has not yet been identified, was the only person injured in the accident. They were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Police confirmed that the driver who fled the scene of the traffic stop has since been arrested. They allegedly had a felony amount of drugs in the vehicle.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident remains ongoing at this time.
