Toomsuba, MS (November 16, 2021) – On Tuesday, November 16, a multi-vehicle collision occurred on a major highway in Toomsuba.
According to Lauderdale County officials, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-20 around the area of the Alabama state line. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when they suddenly collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those with injuries. One or more victims were hurt as a result of the collision. The injured victims were hospitalized, though their conditions are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, all lanes of traffic were blocked on the highway in the area until police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
