Tunica County, MS (December 2, 2023) – A man from Memphis is in jail after a DUI accident in Tunica County left two individuals deceased, according to police. The fatal accident occurred at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24. Reports show the incident took place on Casino Strip Boulevard near Fitzgerald Boulevard. The two victims who lost their lives were identified as Elizabeth Ann Russom, 67, and David Bailey Barbour, 63. Russom, of Myrtle, lost her life on the way to the hospital, according to information provided by police. Barbour, a resident of Byhalia, lost his life at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Dwayne Bowens, a 45-year-old Memphis resident, suffered minor injuries and was charged in connection with the crash, including two counts of aggravated DUI, causing death. Police in Tunica County are still investigating.
