Tutwiler, MS (March 6, 2022) – A man was killed in a fatal train accident that took place on the railroad tracks near the area of True Vine Church Road on Friday night, March 4.
According to Tallahatchie County officials, the accident happened around 8:22 p.m. A northbound City of New Orleans train was headed through the area in a crossing with no signal lights and crossing gates. A 60-year-old man identified as Tod Logan was driving westbound in a Chevrolet Malibu when he entered the crossing at the same time as the train. The train slammed into the driver’s side of the vehicle, pushing the vehicle a slight way down the tracks before it came to a stop.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Logan received blunt force trauma injuries as a result of the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to these injuries.
The area was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
