Vancleave, MS (May 21, 2022) – One person lost their life in a pedestrian accident that took place at an intersection in Vancleave on Wednesday night, May 18.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened during the night at the intersection of Tucker Road and Glendale Road. A man from St. Martin was walking near the intersection when he was suddenly struck by two vehicles. Only one of the drivers pulled over and waited for police to arrive.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders, including fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified as 25-year-old Jamie Hamilton, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The driver who fled the scene has since been found by police. The driver, identified as 18-year-old Bradley Lee, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident that led to death.
The roadway was blocked in the area for some time following the accident.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident continues.
