Vicksburg, MS (June 18, 2022) – An auto wreck happened in Vicksburg on the morning of June 18. At approximately 9:30 a.m., a least one person was hurt in a crash.
Eyewitness statements said the incident occurred on Highway 61 South at Pemberton when an 18-wheeler drove through a red light and collided with a pickup truck.
A fire started in the passenger vehicle with the passenger inside, reports said. A Good Samaritan had a fire extinguisher, however, and put out the blaze. The victim was then extricated from the wreckage by firefighters.
Rescue crews worked in the area to assist injured victims and transported them to local hospitals as needed. Police in Vicksburg continue to investigate.
