Vicksburg, MS (March 23, 2022) – A man was killed in a workplace accident that took place at a stoneyard in Vicksburg on Sunday morning, March 20.
According to Vicksburg Police, the accident happened at 8:45 a.m. at the Riverside Stoneyard at 657 Dorsey Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they found that an employee had been working in the area when, for reasons that are not yet known, he was severely injured. No other employees were hurt.
Paramedics, fire crews, officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the U.S. Coast Guard were all called to the scene to help. The employee, who has since been identified as 47-year-old Lawrence Gibson Jr., was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The area was blocked off for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues. Police continue their investigation into the accident continues.
