Vicksburg, MS (May 21, 2022) – One or more people sustained injuries as a result of a car accident that took place on a highway in Vicksburg on Friday afternoon, May 20.
According to local officials, the accident happened around 2:20 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-20 around the area of mile marker 13 and the Flower exit. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when police confirmed that they collided with one another due to unknown reasons. It is believed that one of the vehicles lost control, which led to the collision. The involved vehicles were badly damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Vicksburg fire crews and paramedics were called to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were hurt as a result of the accident. The injured parties, who have not yet been identified, were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not yet been revealed.
Police urged those in the area to plan for delays if using that traffic route, as traffic was backed up for some time. One vehicle was blocking the roadway for some time until it was removed.
