Wiggins, MS (May 28, 2022) – A passenger was killed in a fatal truck accident on a highway in Wiggins around 11:49 p.m. on Friday night, May 27.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened on MS-49. Police confirmed that 33-year-old Jaco Anderson was traveling north in a passenger vehicle when the driver collided with a parked semi-trailer that was on the right shoulder of the highway. After this, a second passenger vehicle collided with the truck and the first vehicle. All of the involved vehicles sustained heavy damage as a result of the collision.
Paramedics, local fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. A 55-year-old passenger inside one of the vehicles, identified as David Singletary, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. It is not known if anyone else sustained injuries as a result of the accident.
The roadway was blocked in multiple lanes of traffic following the accident. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so traffic could return to normal.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
