Tupelo, MS (October 2, 2021) – On Friday, October 1, a man was killed in a fatal car crash on a roadway in Tupelo.
According to Tupelo Police, the accident happened on McCullough Boulevard in the westbound lanes of traffic. An Equinox and a Toyota Tacoma collided head-on with one another due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Equinox, identified as 53-year-old Harold Springer, Jr., was freed from his vehicle by fire crews. Springer was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries but was tragically pronounced dead while there.
The driver and passenger in the Toyota were also taken to local hospitals but they are expected to fully recover.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
