Vicksburg, MS (April 20, 2022) – Injuries were reported following a serious ambulance crash that took place at a Vicksburg intersection on Tuesday afternoon, April 19.
According to Vicksburg Police, the accident happened around 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of Clay Street and Cherry Street. The ambulance was allegedly responding to a call and headed through the intersection with its lights and sirens activated. As it was traveling through, the ambulance was struck by a dark gray Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicles sustained heavy damage and debris was left scattered all over the roadway.
Paramedics and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified only as an adult female, sustained injuries in the accident but is expected to be okay. The paramedics in the ambulance were also injured but are expected to recover.
The roadway was blocked for a little less than an hour as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
