Sadly, thousands of people are sent to the hospital every year due to Mississippi car crashes. These wrecks continue to happen for a multitude of reasons. Most of the crashes that happen in Mississippi and throughout the country are caused by driver negligence.
One major cause of car wrecks in Mississippi is distracted driving. This includes anything from talking and texting on the phone to grooming and eating while driving. It is vital to stay focused and alert while driving, as even a momentary distraction can cause a crash to occur.
Speeding is another common cause of auto crashes. Driving at unsafe speeds is a leading cause of deadly auto collisions nationwide, and the Magnolia State is no exception.
Intoxicated driving is another major cause of car wrecks in Mississippi. Impaired drivers are usually unable to properly control and operate their vehicles, which can often lead to severe and even fatal accidents. Numerous auto collisions caused by drunk drivers happen when vehicles fail to stop in time to avoid collisions or drift into oncoming lanes of traffic.
Other things like bad weather and vehicle malfunctions can also contribute to car crashes, however, driver negligence causes more auto accidents than both of these combined.
