Quitman County, MS (November 8, 2023) – One individual is dead and three others were seriously hurt in a traffic collision that happened in Quitman County. Reports from authorities show the incident happened on Sunday night, November 5.
Police with the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene on Highway 315 shortly after receiving reports at around 7:00 p.m. They say a 2004 Ford 350 was headed north on the highway when it was involved in a collision with a 1014 Chevrolet Malibu. The Malibu was headed south on the highway at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as Byant M. Windless, 45, who lost his life in the wreck. Two passengers inside his vehicle were transported to an area medical center with moderate injuries. The Ford driver was also taken to the hospital with injuries deemed moderate.
Authorities in Quitman County continue to investigate the details of the accident.
