Mississippi Truck Accidents

Aberdeen, MS - Mary Louise Carothers McMillian, 64, Killed in Crash with 18-Wheeler on Hwy 45 near Lake Lily RdSemi-truck accidents are often more severe than other types of traffic accidents. This is true for a variety of different reasons. First, semi-trucks are often much heavier and larger than passenger vehicles, resulting in increased force and momentum when a traffic accident occurs. This may result in severe damage to other vehicles and passengers who become involved in the accident.

Additionally, due to their massive weight and size, semi-trucks often require much longer distances to come to a complete stop than smaller passenger cars. This means that, in order to avoid a crash, a truck driver may not have enough time to stop, even if they are reacting as quickly and attentively as possible. The cargo being transported by a semi-truck may also increase the severity of an accident if it occurs. If the cargo is dangerous or flammable, it may greatly increase the risk of explosion or fire in the event of a collision.

Lastly, 18-wheelers are much less maneuverable than passenger vehicles, increasing the difficulty in avoiding a crash scene or adjusting to sudden changes in traffic. These factors can increase the severity of semi-truck collisions and make them much more dangerous than other types of collisions. Drivers and trucking companies alike must take several steps to prevent these crashes from occurring and in order to prioritize safety on the road.

Many different factors may contribute to a semi-truck collision, including driver negligence, road conditions, improperly loaded cargo, and equipment failure. Unfortunately, driver negligence is the main reason that auto accidents, including semi-truck accidents, happen in the United States.

When you or someone you love sustains injuries in a traffic accident involving a semi-truck, you may be going through a very difficult time. Sadly, fatalities often result from semi-truck collisions.
