Collins, MS (October 16, 2022) – A fatal car crash happened in Covington County on the morning of Saturday, October 15. Reports show that two men lost their lives and another was severely injured.
Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the incident on US 84 near Salem Church Road. Eddie Tanner, age 22, from Canton, was headed east in his 2016 Malibu on US 84 when he was involved in a crash with the passenger side of a 2004 Buick Lesabre.
The Lesabre was driven by 50-year-old James Hilton of Taylorsville. Hilton was headed South on Salem Church Road at the time. Reports show that the Malibu and the Buick collided in the eastbound lanes of US 84.
A passenger in the Buick, identified as Joseph C. Crosby, age 42, from Taylorsville, along with Hilton, lost their lives in the collision.
Tanner was seriously injured in the crash. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Police in Collins continue to investigate the details of the wreck.
