Traffic accidents occur under many different circumstances, including in clement weather, vehicle issues, and negligent driving. However, driver negligence is the main cause behind the majority of auto accidents that happen in the US today. Those who choose operate their vehicles while distracted, speeding, or intoxicated risk their own lives and the lives of everyone around them.
Negligent driving is behind more fatalities than gun violence each year in the United States. According to information provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 92% of reported auto accidents are caused by negligent driving. When we do the math, this is equivalent to more than 35,000 fatalities per year. Daily, over 100 people are killed in car crashes in the United States, which means negligent driving takes over 90 lives per day across the nation.
