Pedestrian Accidents in Mississippi
Due to the fact that pedestrian accidents often cause severe injuries or even death, they are a substantial cause for concern throughout the nation and the state of Mississippi. Pedestrians are dangerously vulnerable while traveling on the road, and when they become ensnared in collisions with heavy motor vehicles, they lack the protection possessed by the occupants of passenger vehicles.
A notable percentage of the reported traffic accident fatalities in the US are pedestrians. Information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that pedestrians make up about 17% of all traffic accident fatalities in the US.
Some of the most common reasons pedestrian accidents happen include impaired driving, driver distraction, speeding, and failure to yield the right of way. The lack of pedestrian infrastructure also causes pedestrian crashes across the nation.
