Hattiesburg, MS (April 14, 2023) – A fire occurred at an apartment complex in Bassfield on the morning of Wednesday, April 12. At approximately 10:30 a.m., emergency responders went to the scene of the blaze to help those involved.
According to reports made by the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Office, the fire occurred at the Bassfield Apartments. Four apartments were impacted by the flames, one being a total loss.
Paramedics rendered aid to those involved in the fire. Those with serious injuries were transported to the hospital by ambulance. Their names have not been reported at this time.
The fire is currently under investigation as a possible arson, with a person of interest identified. Emergency crews were observed at the scene of the fire for an extended period of time on Wednesday morning.
