Jackson, MS – Child Injured in Apartment Fire on Raymond Rd

Jackson, MS (August 3, 2023) – Firefighters in Jackson were dispatched to an apartment fire on Tuesday morning, August 1. The fire was reported at approximately 6:30 a.m. 

A child was found unconscious and not breathing in the apartment that was located on Raymond Road. Reports show the child was given CPR and transported to the hospital, and had been suffering from smoke inhalation. 

At this time, the condition of the child has not been released. Additionally, a firefighter suffered injuries when he broke a window attempting to get to the child.  Officials report there was a small fire in the kitchen area of the apartment, however, the majority of the damage was smoke-related. 

Authorities in Jackson continue to investigate the details of the accident.
