Mississippi Truck Wrecks
In Mississippi, every year, around 2% of reported nationwide truck collisions take place. This percentage says that Mississippi is among the top 20 states in the nation with the most reported truck collisions per year. These wrecks often end in severe injuries and even fatalities for individuals.
Traffic accidents involving commercial trucks often end in injuries and death for people involved due to the sheer size and weight of semi-trucks when compared with the average passenger vehicles. Large commercial trucks can cause devastating damage when they crash into smaller vehicles. The average 18-wheeler is 20 to 30 times heavier than the average passenger car.
On top of their huge size/weight difference, semi-trucks are often operated by drivers who are overtired and sometimes intoxicated. Unfortunately, truck drivers are forced to work long hours while under strict deadlines, which means that they may be overly fatigued or engage in unhealthy behavior like drug use in order to stay awake or continue driving when they are in fact too tired to do so.
