Laurel, MS (December 7, 2021) – At 10 p.m. on Monday night, December 6, one person was killed in a fatal car accident in Laurel.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened on I-59 around the area of the 100-mile marker. Two vehicles, identified as a Nissan Titan and a Chrysler 300, collided in the area due to reasons that are not yet known. The Nissan immediately went down an embankment after the vehicles collided. Both were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Two people inside the Nissan received minor injuries as a result. One person inside the Chrysler was pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
