Meridian, MS (February 16, 2023) – Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a car accident in Meridian on the afternoon of February 16. At approximately 3:14 p.m. on Thursday, the incident took place on Interstate 20.
Initial reports concerning the auto accident show it happened on the on-ramp to Interstate 59 from Interstate 20. An unknown number of cars crashed in the area, resulting in injuries and traffic delays.
First responders rendered aid to those with injuries at the scene. One or more injured patients in need of extensive medical treatment were transported to local hospitals by ambulance.
While police worked to determine the cause of the accident, the eastbound lanes of the roadway were blocked. Significant delays in traffic resulted, and authorities asked local drivers to use alternate routes.
