Car Accidents in Mississippi
Vehicle crashes occur daily in the state of Mississippi that result in significant injuries. We see countless people hospitalized following accidents caused by negligent drivers. Some of the most common causes of crashes that we see include:
Speeding: Speeding is one of the leading causes of car accidents, both in Mississippi and across the country. When drivers exceed the posted speed limit or drive too fast for the conditions, they put themselves and others at risk. Speeding makes it more difficult to stop or avoid an accident and increases the severity of any collision that does occur.
Impairment: Driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol is another major cause of car accidents in Mississippi. Drunk driving is particularly dangerous, as it severely impairs a driver’s judgment, coordination, and reaction time. Even prescription and over-the-counter medications can impair driving if used improperly. It’s important to always read the labels on medications and follow the directions carefully to avoid putting yourself and others at risk on the road.
Running red lights: Red lights are located at intersections to protect motorists. It is important that drivers listen to the signals that are provided to them at intersections. Unfortunately, we see many people harmed as a result of drivers who run through stop signs and pass red lights at intersections.
