Perkinston, MS (April 27, 2022) – A man was killed in a fatal truck accident that took place in Perkinston on Tuesday afternoon, April 26.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened on MS-43 around 4:15 p.m. Police confirmed that 44-year-old Shawn Douroux was traveling north in a GMC pickup truck when his vehicle was involved in a forceful collision with a dump truck. The dump truck was being driven by a Western Star employee, 55-year-old Charles Freeman. The pickup truck was severely damaged as a result of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Douroux was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. It is not known if Freeman sustained injuries.
Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway was blocked in the area for some time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues. Police will update with more information as it is available.
