Pickens, MS (September 22, 2023) – A head-on collision happened on a highway in Yazoo County just south of Pickens that took one life and critically injured another.
Reports from authorities show that a four-year-old girl lost her life in the crash that happened on Highway 51 near Gas Plant Road. Her sister was airlifted to the Children’s of Mississippi in Jackson while their mother was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
The vehicle the three were riding in was struck head-on by another car under circumstances still under police investigation. The roadway was closed for some time while emergency responders worked at the scene.
