Vicksburg, MS (February 10, 2023) – A crash involving a truck and a school bus occurred in Vicksburg on February 8. According to information provided by police, the wreck happened on Highway 61 South.
Sources say the incident involved a truck with a trailer and a Vicksburg-Warren School District bus from Warrenton Elementary. The bus was entering 61 South from Grandview, headed south, when the truck entered its lane and crashed into it.
The truck driver pulled over and helped the bus driver and the children on board. Medics were observed at the scene, however, it remains unclear how many people were injured. One child was transported from the scene to an area hospital, according to local reports.
The scene was controlled by the Mississippi Highway Patrol, which was assisted by Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace and Warren County fire crews. At this time, police are still investigating the details of the incident.
