Webster County, MS (June 1, 2023) – A couple was killed in a car accident that occurred in Webster County on May 19. At around 4:35 p.m., the crash happened for reasons still under police investigation.
Authorities and EMS were seen helping those involved at the scene shortly after the wreck occurred on Highway 9. Reports show that a 2011 Buick LaCrosse operated by Robert Oris Pittman, 79, of Bellefontaine, was headed south when it left the road and struck a tree.
Pittman and his wife, 76-year-old Mary Laraine Fulgham Pittman, were fatally injured in the accident and pronounced deceased on-site. The Webster County Sheriff’s Office and the North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora Emergency Medical Services, and the Walthall Fire Department were seen rendering aid at the scene.
Authorities in Webster County continue to investigate the details of the crash.
